Anything For Stage Time
'Anything for Stage Time' is a reckless pursuit of the meaning of art (or lack thereof). Comedians, poets, musicians and illustrators navigate the art scene of 21st century San Francisco. They have differing ambitions, but are united by the definitive quality of every self-described artist: desperation. The story begins with Jamie and Evan, two amateur comedians who patronize the Thursday open-mic at the Brainwash. Stand-up comedy is everything to them; to get laughs on stage makes the doldrums of life livable. However, their dedication to the craft has inflated the ego of Jamie, and the stress of coming to the city has dire effects on Evan's emotional well being. Relationships and livelihoods are reaching the breaking point and they fear how much of their humanity they will sacrifice in order to be funny.
